Advanced Diploma - School District Leader (SDL)

The College of New Rochelle will be offering an Advanced Diploma in SDL beginning in September, 2009. This is a 9 -12 credit program designed for those who have already completed a Master's Degree and/or a total of 45 -48 credits in teacher education, educational leadership, or pupil personnel services. Please call the Teacher Center for additional details.

The 7th Annual Summer Invitational
August 10-14
Sustainable Teaching Practices (Grades 6-12)

This week long (45 hour) conference will explore best practice teaching strategies and generate course content that will send you back to the classroom with renewed confidence for the upcoming school year. Participants may register for one day or for the whole week. Most educators receive the most benefit from 3 to 5 days of participation. The cost is $200/day or $850 for the whole week. Please call the Teacher Center for additional information.

Mission Statement
The mission of The Edith Winthrop Teacher Center of Westchester is to support lasting systemic change which begins on an individual level, with one teacher in a classroom and builds from there developing a commitment to sustained professional development.

The Edith Winthrop Teacher Center of Westchester ensures leadership for a new direction to a broad base of educators as they initiate programs, teach workshops, facilitate meetings, make policy decisions, and determine the direction of the Center's scope and program. The Center provides access to programs for the continued improvement of professional skills which will help teachers build their capacity to provide high quality instruction centered on content and performance standards.

The Edith Winthrop Teacher Center of Westchester has a proven record of success in advancing agendas for continuous improvement. The Center offers a program that is dynamic, responsive, and addresses the substantial demands placed on the knowledge, skill, confidence, and commitment of teachers.

The Edith Winthrop Teacher Center of Westchester is a consortium of eight school districts: Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Elmsford, Greenburgh Central School District No. 7, Greenburgh Eleven, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington Union Free School District, The Public Schools of The Tarrytowns, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Sacred Heart, Transfiguration, and Solomon Schechter schools in the Town of Greenburgh, Westchester County.
